Rangers Acquire Green

2010-06-18
The Rangers have gone ahead and made a big move before the trade deadline. The have Rangers sent newly acquired Johan Franzen and long thought to be the franchise D for many years in the near future E. Johnson, in return they have acquired Mike Green from the Blues. The Rangers also had to give up 2 solid prospects, Luke Adams and Justin Abdelkader.

"I know we had to give up a lot to acquire Green, but he is presently a top Dman and he's only 24. We except him to lead the team for many years. We will probably pair him with Jeff Shultz, as their skills appear to compliment themselves well together. And how can you resist the idea of Streit and Green manning the power play together? We hope to be a very dangerous team on the man advantage!"

M. Lamer also went ahead and said encouraging words to the prospects he sent over to M.Dorlet: "We always hoped Johnson would be our main man for years to come. We are positive he will reach his potential with the Blues. M.Drolet also gets 2 great prospects. We were hoping Adams would develop to a 2-3 line power forward. Abdelkader is already ready for 3rd line duties with a decent chance of cracking the 2nd line if the situation arises."

The Rangers also informed Nick Shultz that he would not be returning to the team next year. His 3.5m salary cap hit opens the door to signing an interesting top 4 D or a top 6 Winger UFA on July 1st. M.Lamer has also appeared open to trade 1 of his Centers.
